Firstly I would like to thank you for your prompt reply and for the various fault diagnosis procedures. I was able to rectify my fault with your first method. As soon as I saw this I knew were my problem laid. 2 months earlier I had my kitchen taps replaced this involved the plumber turning of the water from the main valve. By me turning it by one extra evolution was sufficient for the low pressure indicator to go out.

I would like to thank you again for your technical knowledge and advice and also the fact that even if I had to buy the suspected parts they were very reasonably priced.

Our shower stopped working for no apparent reason so I called in a local plumber who took it apart, said the motor had burnt out and that we'd need a new shower plus new wiring and pipes and possibly a new cistern in the loft. He sent a quotation for £760.

I decided to try to get an identical replacement for our existing shower so that the pipes, wiring etc would not need to be replaced and put the name of the manufacturer of our shower into Google  and up came the "Shower Doctor".

I sent an email asking for advice and explaining that the plumber had said there was a lot of black dust in the shower casing and asking how much a new motor would cost. Extremely quickly back came a reply suggesting that maybe we didn't need a new shower - it might just be the brushes that were worn down and not connecting with the armature on the pump. This may as well have been Chinese to me as I know precisely nothing whatsoever about plumbing but Liam suggested I tested the brushes and told me exactly how to do that. I even had to ask him how to take the casing off the shower as I had no idea!!! But he was extremely helpful and didn't make me feel like an idiot!!  Once I'd got into the case I still couldn't work it out at all and sent an email thanking Liam for his help but saying I felt I was going to have to find a plumber to do it. Back came an email full of encouragement telling me not to give up and that I could do it! I then discovered I'd had the diagram the wrong way up - how embarrassing!!! So I tried again and much to my amazement (and some pride!!), after doing what Liam had suggested the shower worked thus proving (apparently) that the motor was ok and it was just the brushes that were worn and I could buy replacements for £19.98 including postage. This was at 3.30 p.m. yesterday and they arrived this morning!!! Then I had to attempt to fit them. I put it off for as long as possible as I had visions of water everywhere and the house floating off down the street but eventually plucked up courage and following the very detailed instructions Liam had sent me I actually managed to fit the new brushes and THE SHOWER WORKS!!!!!

This is a small miracle and I would never have dreamt in a million years of attempting something like that without Liam's encouragement. I feel really happy to have succeeded and even happier to have saved £740!!!

Throughout all this Liam was patience itself expalining everything in the minutest detail and with much good humour!

I couldn't praise him enough - and he's restored my faith in human nature knowing that not everyone is out to rip off unsuspecting members of the public.

Thank you Liam - you're an absolute star!!

Having read previous messages of feedback and needing help to repair my shower, I thought I would try you for service and see whether or not the feedback was in fact true.

I am absolutely delighted with the service received---thank you George for your email and for recommending the part needed and to Paul for dispatching the goods.

The flow/stabilizing valve arrived within 48 hours of ordering and despite my being technically challenged, I was able to fit the part.

My family will be well chuffed and smelling clean again!

Well, I said it before and I'll say it again - you're a star!!!

I didn't like to keep emailing you but thank you so much for not giving up on me!!! If you knew me you wouldn't be surprised when I tell you I was holding the diagram upside down!!! LOL!!!

Anyway I tried pushing the brushes into the motor and to my absolute amazement when I switched the power back on it started working again!!! So it must be the brushes rather than the motor. Phew!!! So I can get new brushes for £17.63 and that rubbish plumber was going to charge me £760!!!!

I really don't know how to thank you enough - you've been terrific and I'm just so grateful to you.

So do I just order the new brushes then? I don't think I'm going to be able to fit them myself though, am I? I'm useless as you'll have guessed when I told you I had the diagram upside down!

Excellent service,,,

I phoned for advice. My shower turned itself off when the double-element setting was chosen, but worked on the summer-heat and cold settings. The advice was that that the fault could be on either the power PCB or the control PCB, but was more likely to be the power PCB.

A visual inspection had revealed nothing obvious so I ordered the power PCB late afternoon last Saturday. The part was delivered Monday morning!

Unfortunately I was away from home for a couple of days, so fitted it this afternoon and problem fixed. The only delay was me!

Just a note to say thanks for your help in mending my New Team shower. I e-mailed you about there being a lack of pressure coming through; I was sent a couple of options of either a new pressure equalizing valve (which isn't very cheap!!) or a repair kit. The repair kit didn't look as though it would do much as it was only a couple of o-rings and rubber discs, but after fitting them it's like I've installed a brand new power-shower! Thanks for your expertise and helpfulness in not trying to rip a customer off by advising the most expensive option (as I'm sure some others do), will definitely use you again if I get any more problems

My electric shower broke yesterday morning. I emailed the shower doc at 10 am. I read the reply and diagnosis at lunchtime, then ordered the part by phone, a new PRD costing just over £10 for 2 including postage and VAT it arrived by 9am this morning with instructions. My shower is now fixed at 10am. It would have been quicker but i went for a haircut at 9:05. I have minimal diy skills but found the job straightforward.

          Just wanted to say thank-you for the excellent and speedy service. I ordered the part on a Wednesday, and it was with us on Thursday next day. While I had to get the whole unit, as the leaky vacuum valve was inseparable, this has just shown us how far gone our original part was. The whole shower is now a lot quieter, more powerful and hotter than it has been for a long time.

Just to thank you for your help in purchasing and fitting a part on a mira sport shower,I had problems with the low pressure light coming on and the shower not working ,thought I would have to buy a new shower,after a phone call to the shower doc the part I needed was identified and the next day I received it in the post.I e.mailed and asked if the part was easy to fit and received instructions straight away which were easy to follow the part was fitted in a matter of minutes(we are no plumbers).

One problem I did have though,and it was no fault of Shower Doctor,is that the new unit didn't have a washer on the part that connected to the water supply,and I didn't realise till the water was turned on,all I had to do though was use the washer from the unit I was replacing.
A great service from Shower Doctor, quick to e mail,helpful on the phone,and saved us a lot of money,Thank you very much.

We locat ed the part we requir ed with ease on your website and spoke to a very helpful gentleman who process ed our order.  He advis ed us that our order would be despatch ed 1st class that evening.  We thought yeah right and expect ed to receive delivery mid week.

To our surpirise it arriv ed next day (Saturday) 1st class.

Part fitt ed and shower WORKING !!!! 

Not even a plumber could  provide a service like that and it would have cost alot more than £9.40.

Short note to thank the Shower Doctor for excellent next day service in providing a couple of much needed parts.

As a guest house we have 6 electric showers which take some hammer from guests and inevitably parts are broken. Previously we would have to buy whole items for one particular part but now we have found The shower Doctor life is going to be alot easier.

I have to say that when I phoned you last week I had just about given up trying to find a spare for my shower.  I knew that the spare would cost only about £20 and would have saved me £200+ plus a plumbers fees and possibly some re-tiling.

Everyone I had spoken to previously (various plumbers merchants and "specialists") had told me that they neither stocked the parts nor even knew where to find them.  Even the manufacturers, Gummers, were unable to help me...

When I spoke to your advisor they instantly knew what I wanted and could even describe it so I was confident you had the right part. Delivery was quick and the fact that the part came with instructions as well proves that you understand your customers needs.  I quickly had the shower fixed and am the hero in the eyes of my family - all down to you.

If I have similar problems again, or know someone in a similar predicament, your name will be first on my list.

Hi,

I had a problem with my electric shower, it was running completely cold and I had no idea why. I e-mailed for help and got good advice (from George) on what might be wrong along with part numbers of possible replacement parts. I checked out the shower with a multimeter (with the help of the advice page on the website), and then ordered the required parts online on Monday evening. I got the parts on Wednesday!

I fitted the parts in less than 20 minutes and now we have a hot shower again!

Thanks for all your help! Will definitely recommend you to friends, and you will be my first port of call for any other shower-related issues I have!!

Very rarely these days do you come across a company who operate so professionally! I phoned my order, asked advise, was informed that I needed additional parts.(in the back of my mind thinking, good ploy to get more money out of me.) Parts arrived the following day!!! Followed all the instructions given( I am a complete novice to all things DIY), hey presto, my shower now works as it did when it was installed 10 years ago. Your advice was absolutely spot on! I have done what you suggested and the shower is working fine now the temperature was set fully anti clockwise so just the hot was on.

In these days of disposable equipment I was convinced that my broken flow control lever meant a plumber, a new shower and a tiler (to fix the wall after ripping out my broken shower) and a bill for several hundred pounds. Just a note to say thankyou, for the very speedy service.

The Brushes I ordered yesterday & the motor cover you very kindly included free, arrived this morning.  Many many thanks.

Although unfortunately the motor cover appears to be the wrong type (you've provided a rounded corner type instead of a 4 square corners type) the brushes are the same as the existing ones.

Having  fitted them, the unit is running very much smoother & quieter.  I've managed to re-shape my existing cover with a little heat & gentle persuasion, which will do the job for now.

At a cost of under £20, you've saved me from a considerable expence of replacing a £150 shower unit.

It goes without saying that I have no hesitation in recommending your excellent service to others.

The part I ordered online two days ago arrived this morning. I've fitted it, and now my Triton thermostatic power shower is just as good as new again.

In a few days time I'll order another potentiometer, to keep handy for if it happens again.

The new solenoid valve arrived Friday morning as promised. I thought that the filter may need cleaning so I decided to change the whole unit. I found it just as easy to take the unit off the wall and pull the solenoid out of the stabilising valve. The whole process took about 20 mins. The shower is now back in operation and I am in the good books with "she who must be obeyed" for a little while at least.

"The Shower Doctor" is now added to my favourites list in case I get any more problems, So many many thanks for your help George .

Explained my problem with a Grohe 2000 shower and your representative discussed it with an engineer before coming to a decision.

Problem diagnosed but further questions. Was it surface mounted or inset?

Something to do with spindle length which was fully explained to me. Inset I said and this was the part that was swiftly delivered. It was an original Grohe part and fitted exactly.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this company

They asked the right questions and diagnosed the correct solution and were very friendly to deal with as well

I know nothing about showers and am not an electrician but went on your website and emailed you describing what I could see (burnt out wiring) and what was happening (fluctuating temperature). Hey presto! A fully functioning shower again for £26. Just wanted to say how pleased i was with your service

Shower went off so decided to have a nose around on the web and found your site, read some of the feedback that others had left and have got to be honest i usually take that sort of thing with a pinch of salt but like they say "does exactly what it says on the tin"

Rang up 9am yesterday, the gentleman i spoke to knew exactly what the problem was from what i described, parts arrived this morning fixed in ten minutes.

Cost me £10 inc p&p and that was with a spare one as well as the part i needed to sort it out.

Sods law was that i was going to be taking the old shower out in a couple of months anyway when i redo my bathroom so thought i was going to either buy a stopgap shower in the meantime or settle for something i didn't really want.

Your help has now made it possible for me carry on as planned.

After explaining the problem, the chap on the other end of the phone identified the fault straight away as being the pilot valve/switch assembly. As he wasn't anything to with the parts department he put me through to another chap. He also confirmed that it could only be the pilot valve/switch assembly and quoted me the replacement part price.

At this point I was wondering if it is worth spending £36.00 on a spare part for a shower that is 8 years old, and then all the messing about fitting it? I raised this question with the chap in parts who said, “This is about the only thing that goes wrong with this model, so yes it is definitely worth fixing despite its age”. He could have easily tried to sell me a new shower unit and if he had, I probably would have just bought a new one.

I also asked if I (in no way a plumber) could fit the part myself? As I had the exploded parts drawing open on their website, he explained that it is not too difficult as long as you record/make not of all the wire connections and can find a little bit of play on the incoming water pipe, I should have no problems. He said, “You only have to remove 4 or 5 screws and with a little bit of play on the pipe, it should not pose any problems”. I remember thinking that it was easy for him to say that but I will have a go anyway.

The very next day the part arrived in the post as the chap said it might (he did say more likely the day after) so a pat on the back for Royal Mail for a change!

After turning off the water and power to the unit, then draining out as much water as I could, I got started. Everything the chap on the phone told me was spot on. I recorded the wire locations and managed to find a bit of play on the incoming pipe (if you can't find any play on the pipe, this job would become a lot more difficult) and soon had the old pilot valve/switch assembly removed. I had to re-use the ‘O' ring from the old unit on the incoming water side as the new part did not have one with it (I don't know if it was missing or if you are supposed to re-use the existing one?).

Everything went back together exactly in reverse to the removal of the old part.

I turned the water back on and found no leaks, so re-fitted all the covers! I turned the power back on and everything works like new again!

I would like to thank both chaps who I spoke to (don't know their names) for all the excellent advice they offered and to thank ‘The Shower Doctor' for offering a really good service.

I makes a very nice change to deal with a company and their staff who are really keen to help and offer excellent advice in a very friendly way.

It is fair to say that most people will rarely need to fix a shower very often, but when they do I would strongly recommend that they speak to ‘The Shower Doctor'.

I had a problem with a dripping shower control which our plumber said needed a new seal. He had never seen this model of shower before, as it is probably 20+ years old. I took a digital photo and emailed it to the Shower Doctor, who was able to identify the make as a Supamix and also the part numbers required (which were in stock).

On the website I was able to print off an exploded assembly view of the shower control which will be really helpful in fitting the spare parts. I ordered online around 1pm on Tuesday and the parts arrived here in Blackpool the next morning.

I think the service is exceptional and would highly recommend it .

On Monday I found your website on the internet whilst looking for a company who could provide me with a spare part for my Gainsborough shower. Based on the clear and informative data shown on your website I decided to call your office and found the chap who I spoke with to be extemely helpful and polite. This is rather unusal in the current day as usually the level of customer liason skill shown when calling companies is, show we say, questionable.

Hello After initially contacting showerdoc.co.uk I received a prompt reply and the problem was accurately diagnosed in that I needed to replace the Pilot Valve Assembly in my Mira Sport 8.5 Electric Shower. After taking a look at the internal workings of the shower (and having no plumbing experience) it appeared no easy task to replace this part. As a result, another e-mail was sent off and this is when George Thomson's help became invaluable! He provided me with simple step-by-step instructions and even managed to make me smile by ending the message by stating Easy init!!!!! The valve was ordered and arrived within 36 hours, part of me was almost wishing it would get lost in the post! To cut a long story short, after 30-45 minutes work I was both pleased and relieved to find that the shower was once again working perfectly. I would like to offer Praise where praise is due!
I have just had a new suite and a newly tiled bathroom. I was delaying buying a new shower due to all the home improvements. My trusty old but reliable Triton T80 was in fine working order.
After my shower in my new surroundings, I rinsed out the bath with my shower, my harmony turned to horror, as the water instead of flowing from the shower head was cascading down the wall via a outlet hose from the shower box. Well the smile was wiped off my face, I spoke to the plumber who said he would come out and look at it and identify the problem. He did warn me that my old shower may have to R.I.P.

The sight of all this water put me in the mood for a surf, on the net, googled and found Shower Doctor the name intrigued me as I enjoy a Home improvement show of a similar name. Eloquent as I am about many a subject, plumbing and trouble shooting shower disasters is not my forte. Not to be deterred my feminine ramblings were quickly deciphered, diagnosed and the part a "pressure release device" was dispatched at noon and I received it through the letter box the NEXT morning. Part installed by my plumber friend within 5 mins guided by the easy to follow diagram enclosed with part.

So a huge thanks, to the friendly service and prompt dispatch of replacement part(of which there was 2, just incase it happened again) at a reasonable price. So I can report that my little Triton is running well and I am a happy woman. I have passed on your address to my plumber and all my friends. Keep up the good work it is appreciated.

Firstly I've been meaning to write back for over a month now since you gave me what is close to being my best customer experience EVER! Please add this to your ever growing list of recommendations:

I had a broken control knob on my NewTeam shower, and found ShowerDoctor on Google immediately. They sent me a new one the next day. It broke again within two weeks due to a stiff axle in the shower unit. I rang up again, they diagnosed the problem and sent me a seal / lubrication kit AND another control knob (on warranty - again next day delivery), which I then fitted myself, saving at least £100 on a plumber. Shower Doctor's representative was authoritative, extremely helpful and above all solved my problem with the minimum of fuss.

I seriously think these guys should win some award for the customer service you give - it is unprecedented in my experience. I could not recommend ShowerDoctor any more highly.

Just to thank you for the trouble you took yesterday to ensure I had suitable parts and good instructions to allow me to repair our Mira 723 shower. Hope I'm not speaking too soon, but it was barely 10 minutes to put the shower back together and adjust the settings.

However, on further investigation of my shower I found that the microswitch that controls the low pressure warning light (grey lead) and switches the power (Brown Leads) was faulty. I ordered a microswitch from Shower Doctor which when fitted cured the problem. Thanks for your support I was very impressed by the speed of parts delivery, I ordered on a Thursday and received the part on the following day.
